Use this sentence to help decide which of your unknowns should be represented by y and which should be represented by x. For example, if cost depends on time, then cost would be y, and time would be x.
Solution to a linear equation:
The picture below shows that a "solution" to a linear equation is both a point on the line and an ordered pair that when plugged in makes the equation true. This means that if you have an ordered pair that when plugs in it works that it also must be a point on the line.
